Soft contact lens for dry eye

I am 79 and suffered with dry eyes for over 30 years. I have used various OTC tears with Gen Teal drops one of better ones. With age my symptoms slowly worsened and I have tried Restasis, Xidra, Tyrvaya all with little improvement. I underwent cataract surgery in the left eye and the problem worsened and did not improve with the Xidra, Tyrvaya. Recently I began a trial of soft contact lens wear in each eye. After a few weeks I can say my symptoms have improved dramatically. Has anyone else utilized soft contacts for this purpose and if so what was your result?
Thanks for your input.

  1. thank you for sharing your experience with chronic dry eyes. Like you I find the GenTeal brand of eyedrops work best for me. I gave up wearing contacts years ago because they irritated my eyes. I do know some of our community members wear scleral contact lens and find relief from their dry eye symptoms. Warm wishes, Sharon Moore patient leader

      1. I'm glad to hear something helped your symptoms! It can be so frustrating trying out different treatments and not having them help. I hope the soft contact lenses continue to offer relief. Thank you for sharing!

        1. I used to wear contacts but my eye specialist will not prescribe because of my severe dry eye syndrome because it would be painful now I am stuck with glasses

          1. , I hear how frustrating it feels to need to transition back to glasses after so many years of wearing contacts. Chronic dry eye can create so many challenges and complications.
