Support Givers

When it comes to managing dry eye, sometimes it takes a village.

How is your support team (friends, family, med staff)? Do you generally feel supported by them? In what ways would you like to be supported in managing dry eye that you currently aren't?

  1. the medical staff is very good at supporting my needs. I am sorry to say but friends and family are clueless. Within my circle, dry eyes is not generally perceived to be a serious problem. Sharon Moore team member

    1. I feel like my family doesn't fully understand CDE so they don't take it as seriously. I have an autoimmune disease that is more apparent than dry eye so I think that's why. The same goes for my doctors. My optometrist is very understanding about it but I don't see her often enough.

      1. I was going to say the same thing, so just echoing this statement. I feel like my doctors get it, but I typically only see them once a year unless something happens. My family on the other hand, I don't really think they understand that it's even a whole condition of its own to manage and deal with, let alone anything else. I deal with other autoimmune conditions as well, so I feel the same. I'm sorry you feel this way too!

    2. I really cannot say I feel supported by family and friends because they just don’t understand what I go through. I get my best support within the CDE community. Thank you all for your support and insight.

      1. it’s hard to say because i experience different things from day to day.
