Myopia Progression at 35+ Years

Hello, I have a question regarding the progression of my Myopia condition. I've been wearing Myopia correction glasses since I was 13 years, and I'm currently 37 years old. Surprisingly, even after the age of 20, my Myopia has continued to worsen, with increases every 1-2 years, and continues to worsen even at 35. I've read that it should have stabilized by 18-24, so I'm curious if anyone has any insights into why my Myopia is still progressing?

  1. Hello , thank you for reaching out. I hear how much you are struggling with the continued progression of your myopia. It is frustrating when your vision continues to change past the age you expect it to stabilize. We cannot offer specific medical diagnostics or advice over the internet (for your safety!), but I would encourage you to discuss your concerns with your ophthalmologist. They will have the best insight into whether your symptoms are cause for concern. All bodies are unique and different factors can affect the eyes for each person.

How are you feeling today? Please keep us posted on how you are managing and what you learn. Know we are here to listen when you need a friendly ear. Wishing you a gentle day. ~Allyson (ChronicDryEye.net team)
